Serrano peppers are a type of chili with a bright, crisp texture and a strong, spicy flavor. They are often used in Mexican and Southwestern cuisine and can be eaten raw or cooked. They are considered to be quite spicy and are rated at 10,000 to 23,000 Scoville heat units – putting them somewhere between a jalapeno and cayenne pepper.
